What to Pack for Hospital
Your hospital bag is of utmost importance. The best advice is to "Be Prepared" Most mums seem to start packing their bag at around 32 weeks. This list is compiled to assist you when you start packing and you can of course add or omit items.
Toiletries For You
- Shampoo/conditioner
- Soap/shower gel
- Toothbrush & toothpaste
- Deodorant
- Towel and washer (optional-hospitals also provide)
- Maternity Pads
- Breast Pads
- Hairbrush
- Makeup (you may want to look better for visitors??)
Clothes For You
- Clothing for labour (large t-shirts, lightweight nighties are good)
- Couple of nighties or pairs of pyjamas (front opening are good for breastfeeding)
- Dressing gown
- Slippers
- Comfortable day clothes (your maternity clothes are still a good option)
- Underwear - lots of dark coloured undies are essential
- Going home clothes - your pre-pregnancy clothes most likely wont fit just yet
Your Labour Kit
- Water spray
- Bottled water
- Hair ties
- Snacks
- Aromatherapy Oils
- Books
- Music
- Magazines
Items for Bubs
- Sleepsuits
- Singlets
- Nappies - your hospital may provide - best to check
- Socks
Essential Items
- Camera
- Video Camera
- Mobile Phone
- Important phone numbers
- Document Folder - you get lots of important paperwork
- Pens
- Small amount of money - some hospitals charge for TV access etc
